KEGS Executive Members |
Kanita Khaled, Past President Kanita is a Professional Geophysicist (P.Geo) with experience in the mining, oil and gas industries. She obtained a BSc. in Geophysics from the University of Toronto. Kanita began her career as an Exploration Geologist role at Teranga Gold, operating out of Senegal. Following this, she practiced micro-seismic geophysics at ESG Solutions in Kingston, Ontario. She then returned to Toronto to take on a role in potential field geophysics at Geotech Airborne Ltd working with airborne electromagnetic, magnetic, gravity and radiometric data sets. She managed several airborne geophysics projects in a Geophysicist-Project Manager role at Geotech. Kanita is currently a Geophysicist at Seequent, where she works closely with business and technical teams to provide high quality solutions for geoscience professionals. Kanita is an active member of the geoscience community, and participates in mentorship events at the University of Toronto when possible. In her past time Kanita enjoys hiking and painting. |
Farzaneh Farahani, PresidentFarzaneh Farahani, M.Sc., P.Geo. Is a project Geophysicist at Seequent. Farzaneh started her Career as a Geomagnetic observatory and Geomagnetism lab assistant, back in 2004 at the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, Iran. Her passion to applied Geophysics and understanding the application of theory to solve the industrial problems, led her to pursue her career in exploration geophysics (Magnetic and Electromagnetic exploration projects.) Farzaneh has over 14 years of research and work experience at the academia and Industry. She has also been an active member of Geophysical societies and has helped in organizing and coordinating national Conferences and symposiums. She holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Damghan Applied Sciences, Iran. And a M.Sc. in Geophysics (with a focus on Geomagnetic Explorations) from Science and Research branch, Azad University, Tehran, Iran. She immigrated to Canada in 2014 and completed a post graduate degree in Environmental Control from Sheridan College, Canada. Besides being honored to join KEGS executive board members, she is also an executive board member of the Women Geoscientists in Canada (WGC) to advocate gender equality in geoscience.

Peter Tschirhart, Vice President
Peter Tschirhart is a senior consulting geophysicist at Paterson, Grant & Watson Limited based out of Toronto. At PGW, he has been predominately involved with interpretation, modelling and technical supervision and QA/QC of airborne geophysical data, particularly magnetic and radiometric data, for mining companies and international government agencies. Prior to joining PGW, he worked at Sander Geophysics Ltd. where he was involved with the acquisition, processing and interpretation of airborne magnetic, gravity and radiometric survey data. Peter received a B.Sc in Earth and Environmental Science (2011) followed by an M.Sc in Earth Science (2013) both from McMaster University. He is a practicing registered Professional Geoscientist with the Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (PGO). |
![]() | Darren Burrows, Secretary Treasurer Darren graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2006 with a Geophysics (Hons) degree. Initially he worked in the deep Gold mines of South Africa analysing mining induced seismicity, and working with rock engineers to ensure safe underground mining conditions. He then moved to a Platinum exploration project in the Bushveld Igneous Complex planning drillholes, logging core and managing exploration data. Finally, he moved to airborne geophysics with Fugro / CGG / Xcalibur where he has held various roles focussing on geophysical data processing & interpretation as well as business development. At Xcalibur he helps mineral, energy, and government explorers design airborne geophysical programs to answer their exploration questions. |
